Equipment Checklist of Salt Water Tank for Beginners
Here are few aquarium supplies and equipment checklist that is necessary for setting up and efficiently running a saltwater aquarium which are also important for the beginners.
- Aquarium / Fish Tank: Determine the exact size and shape of the tank and the perfect area where it needs to be installed. Also pre-decide the number of fishes that will be included in the tank.
- Lighting: For Aquarium lighting one can choose from these main types which include regular fluorescent lights, compact fluorescent, high output (ho) fluorescent, very high output (vho) fluorescent, metal halide, LED.
- Skimmers, Filters & Filtration Equipment: There are several types of filters to choose from that include canister filters, wet/dry trickle filters, and power filters. A protein skimmer will also be required which will help to remove Dissolved Organic Compounds, or DOC’s, from the water before being processed by the filter.
- Heater & Thermometer: Thermometer is used to monitor and maintain within a saltwater aquarium. Also one or more heaters will need to be used if a constant water temperature cannot be maintained or during cold seasons.
With the above most important saltwater supplies one is also recommended to use these items that includes cover, stand, substrate, rocks, heating, lighting, filter, water test kit, bucket, siphon hose, salt mix, algae scraper and net.
